Vichy Bi White Corrective was one of the first skin lightening products I’ve ever tried. What initially intrigued me was the active ingredients, which were a combination of Vitamin C (L-Ascorbic Acid at 3% (I emailed Vichy Labs for the percentage), Liquorice Extract and a patented molecule by the name of Procystein. Together these ingredients reduce the melanin content within the skin and reverse the signs of sun damage.
Let’s start with the good: I love the packaging of the product because it keeps the Vitamin C stable and free from being oxidized prematurely. It comes in a 30 ml metal tube that has a squeeze tip. The directions state to use a nut sized amount on the face.
Now having oily, acne prone skin and looking at the inactive ingredients I can say using a pea sized is best since the Vichy Bi White Corrective Care is not oil-free (has soybean oil which can be troublesome). I would apply a pea sized amount in the morning right after cleansing off my retinoid and eye cream. The product has a serum-like texture and spreads evenly. I applied sunscreen on top of this.
I definitely saw an improvement in my skin tone. The product helped to fade a stubborn tan that I got from a trip to France earlier that year, as well as brightened my entire complexion. It does an excellent job fading brown acne marks and lightening up freckles. Also due to the Vitamin C content in the product, it also provides some form of exfoliation so that also helped to create an instantly more luminous appearance.
The Bad: Alright, so the product has its flaws. First, the fact that it is not oil-free. I found if I applied anything more than a pea my face would look extremely greasy. I got a few breakouts on my forehead as well, and mainly due to this I had to discontinue using this.
It’s really too bad since the product *does* actually work. My skin became 1 shade lighter, brighter and I saw a reduction in freckles. The oily nature of the product didn’t gel well with my skin and eventually broke me out. I bought the Vichy Bi White Corrective Care for $35 CDN at Shoppers Drug Mart.
