Over the last month I’ve been trialling the Youth Anti-Wrinkle Brightening Cream by SkinAgain – a vegan, cruelty-free, paraben & sulphate-free skincare company, and I’m excited to report my results!
SkinAgain Youth Anti-Wrinkle Brightening Cream contains a powerful blend of Rumex Occidentalis Extract, Tree Fern Extract, and Peptides to help diminish the appearance of dark spots, age spots, uneven skin tone and fine lines and wrinkles. It’s the perfect ‘facelift’ primer that can be used under makeup and combined with virtually any regimen.
I wasn’t expecting too much in the way of skin brightening from the SkinAgain Youth Anti-Wrinkle Brightening, since its formula wasn’t as potent as other skin brighteners, but I have got to say I’m impressed with the results thus far – and it’s only been 4 weeks! My skin is looking more even-toned, brighter, and a lot smoother in texture. The formula contains excellent active ingredients, notably rumex occidentalis extract, chamomilla recutita (matricaria) extract, cucumber extract, and gingko biloba leaf extract for skin brightening, and a bevy of peptides and antioxidants for anti-aging. With daily use, this product has managed to bring a new found radiance to my complexion, in addition to ironing out some fine lines that I had been noticing recently. It’s also made a breakthrough in my sun damaged face by slightly lightening a pesky sun spot on my upper left cheek. That may not sound like much, but hey, any progress is good progress when it comes to treating hyperpigmentation.
The product itself is encapsulated in a pump dispenser and has a slight beige color to it. Despite being marketed as a cream, it has a light-weight, lotion-like texture and blends into the skin quickly. It’s also quite soothing and calming to my skin, and that’s something I’ve noticed every time I apply it. It seems to tone down the redness that I often get from my occasional overzealous use of alpha hydroxy acids and retinoids.
Although the Youth Anti-Wrinkle Brightening Cream is marketed as an all-in-one product (treatment, moisturizer, primer), I use it primarily as an essence/treatment. I don’t think it fares well as a primer, at least for oily skin types, since it lacks necessary oil-absorbing silicones, but it could possibly suffice for drier skin types. I apply this product morning and night as I do like any other essence and experience no issues layering it underneath other products.
Another unique facet to this product and company as a whole is their philosophy of ‘positive skin care’, which they weave into each of their products through quality, skin-friendly ingredients intermixed with positive affirmations scrolled across the packaging. It’s just a wonderful added touch that I appreciate.
If you are interested in a hydroquinone-free, plant extract based skin brightener that also has impressive anti-aging properties, then the SkinAgain Youth Anti-Wrinkle Brightening Cream is worth trying out! It can be purchased at SkinAgain and Amazon.
